SITE ADMINISTRATION:

Site administration is a very important component provided by Quality Center which is used for the following…

* Creating new users

* Deleting old users

* Modifying the information of the users

* Creating the domain

* Creating the project i.e. allocating the space for the new projects

* Assigning the users for the project and all other administration activities

QUALITY CENTRE:

It contains six modules as follows

* Business components

* Requirements

* Test plane

* Test lab

* Defects

* Dash board

1. BUSINESS COMPONENT:

It is a special module provided by QC in order to perform business process testing. In this type of testing usually the subject experts<BA> will develop the business companies based on the business flow of the application and then automation test engineers will fill the script in there’s. So that one can perform the testing in an even more effective manner.

2. REQUIREMENTS:

This module is used for building the requirement string to do the same this module has provided two option

i. New requirements

ii. New child requirements

This module also provides the following activities

1. One can attach any kind of attachment to the requirement

2. It will automatically show the author name

3. It will generate the ID’s automatically for each and every requirements

4. One can give the direct cover status of the requirements like whether the test is covered or not. Is covered whether it is executed whether it is passed or fails.

5. One can give the review status of the requirements whether reviewed OR not.

3. TEST PLANE:

This module is used for creating the test<automatics or manual> for all the requirements. To do the same one has to create a folder under the he need to create the desired empty test based on the test one has to launch the corresponding functions tool, generate the desired test script and click on the “save” button in the functional tool.

→ The script will be saved in the empty script file which is already created in the Quality Centre. In the same way one has to create all the tests. Once all the tests are created this module also provided a facility to establish the link between the test and corresponding requirements with the help of “requirements coverage” tab in order to establish the automatic traceability matrix.

Usually this facility will be used by MANAGER OF THE COMPONY.

Once all the test are created then one will go to the next module by name “test lab”

4. TEST LAB:

It is the module provided by the Quality Centre which is used for the following:-

* Building the test set

* Execute the test set

To do the same one has to create the folder and create the corresponding test sets with the help of the all the available test based on the different end-to-end scenario.

Once the tests are build one can execute then to do the same this module has provided two option.

a. RUN

b. RUN ALL

A. RUN:

Is used for running a single selected test in the test set.

B. RUN ALL:

Is used for running all the tests in the test sets.

Once the execution is completed one can analyze the result in the requirements tool itself & if at all one can identify the defects & need to post then he can do it for in the functional tool itself, other wise he can go to the next module “defects”.

5. DEFECTS:

This module acts like bug tracking tool and provides all the facilities to manage the defects like adding the defects, changing the status of the defects etc… With which complete bug tracking facilities provided.

6. DASH BOARD:

It is the special component provided by the Quality Centre which is used for generating the reports across multiple projects at a time.

    Hi Sridhar,

    Really good work!!!!! Appreciate the things above. Can let me know if we have any relation between the amount of space required and the number of QC users?

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Sridhar,

    Let me be more clear on this. I am interested in knowing the hardware requirement vs the number of quality centre users.
